Camden Conference

“The 24th annual Camden Conference will take place February 18-20, 2011. It will focus on The Challenges of Asia — in many ways the defining issue of our times. Opinion leaders from around the US and Asia itself will address this sweeping theme on a range of economic, environmental, foreign policy and cultural topics related to China, India, Japan and other regional powers. Attention will be given both to the challenges posed to the US by a “rising Asia” and to the many internal challenges within Asia that confront Asian leaders and peoples.

Topics will include current trends and future prospects for many aspects of contemporary Asia. While China and India loom large in the Asian panorama, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and other nations will be touched on as well. Social and cultural dimensions will be covered to portray the “human face” of Asia at a time of transition as their leaders face the age-old problems of poverty, rural underdevelopment, population growth, and mounting pollution.
