Surroundings

“I wish, I wish, I wish, there was a store this wonderful near my home in Virginia,” wrote one reviewer of Surroundings which has been in business in Camden since 1992. Specializing in appointments for the home, you will find tableware, candles, vases, linens and Maine’s largest assortment of tablecloths. The small shop squeezes in a kitchen section, personal care products including soaps and lotions from the Thymes and Crabtree and Evelyn, aprons, art prints and Polish pottery for your enjoyment.

This is Camden’s first choice for the smallest hostess gift to beautiful wedding presents. Most items are wonderfully displayed within a theme so you might find the smallest of salt and pepper shakers matched with a grand serving platter from Wilton Armetale graced with the finest silk flowers all to make a splendid presentation in your home. During the winter holiday season, Surroundings is the perfect place to find useful gifts for the home and charming ornaments for everyone.

Located near the middle of Main Street in Downtown Camden, Surrounding stands over the town’s old mill pond. Although there is no hint of this from the front, the back doors open above the pond to view the Megunticook River waterfall tumbling into Camden Harbor. The view is memorable and uniquely New England.

Look for Surroundings on the harbor side of Main Street, between the Smiling Cow and the Camden Deli. Click here for a 360-degree spherical, interactive panorama of the store interior.
