Things To Do
No matter the season or your level of thirst for adventure, there’s no shortage of activities in Camden! We are home to ten historic schooners-enjoy sunset between islands in Penobscot Bay on a two-hour sail or stay aboard one of our windjammers for a week! Click here to see a You Tube video of a trip on board one of our Camden schooners. If you prefer a smaller vessel, take a sea kayaking tour. Or perhaps swim and canoe Megunticook Lake–that’s the lake you saw from above on one of your day hikes through Camden Hills State Park; myriad trails leave from camden and reward you with spectacular panoramas of the area. During the summer, pick wild blueberries and snack your way to the top of the trail! If you’re here for our glorious fall, spend an afternoon apple picking at an orchard. Rent bikes and leaf peep on two wheels in the brisk fall air, or take the bikes by ferry to an island and peddle the parameter. Take in ocean views from the snow bowl as you navigate the trails of our local ski mountain, which is also home to the toboggan nationals and year-round activities. If you’ve tired of the slopes, lace up your ice skates and cruise across one of our frozen lakes.
Kids love beach combing for sea glass and playing in our parks; people of all ages are charmed by the Belted Galloways–also affectionately known as oreo cookie cows!–at Aldermere Farm. Spend the afternoon in our charming library after picnicking at nearby harbor park or the attached outdoor amphitheater.
Camden, Maine is a treasure trove of ways to make your visit memorable and truly experience coastal Maine–the biggest challenge is fitting it all in! And please don’t forget to check the events calendar for specific events taking place throughout the year.
