Camden with Kids
With oodles of outdoor fun, as well as many indoor activity options, kids are rarely bored here in Camden.
Below is an ever-growing list of ideas:
Look for sea glass at our local beaches.
Explore Camden Hills State Park; hike Mt. Battie, Maiden’s Cliff, Beach Hill, the Carriage Trails, or Bald Rock.
Visit the Camden Public Library, rain or shine. The building itself and the surrounding grounds (the outdoor amphitheatre and Harbor Park) are cherished features of quintessential Camden and a great place to picnic and play - but inside the doors is also a fabulously kid-friendly, enriching environment.
Take a boat ride.
“Island Hop” or go on the Lighthouse Tour.
Check out the Belted Galloways (or “oreo cookie cows”) at Aldermere Farm.
Visit Andre the Seal’s statue and swim from the beach at Rockport Harbor.
Use the swings and children’s amphitheatre at Laite Beach or play on the fabulous playground at Walker Park.
In the autumn, go leaf peeping and make collages with fallen leaves. Or go apple picking at Hope Orchards. Yum!
In the winter, go tubing, tobogganing or skiing at the Camden Snow Bowl, cross-country skiing at Tanglewood, or sledding on any inviting hill!
For the less outdoorsy tikes, or rainy weather, there’s also the Owl’s Head Transportation Museum, the Maine Lighthouse Museum, the Coastal Children’s Museum and the Farnsworth Art Museum.
