If spending an afternoon on the links is high on your vacation to-do list, Camden is your destination! Camden has a beautiful and challenging 9-hole golf course called Goose River Golf Club, just a five minute drive from downtown. Goose River is a taste of peaceful and bucolic Maine to be sure.

Further down the road in Glen Cove is the Samoset Resort and Golf Club, also known as “the Pebble Beach of the East.” The ocean views along the 18-hole course can be distracting from your game, but playing the Samoset is truly a memorable golfing experience.

The Rockland Golf Club also boasts ocean views from several of the 18 holes.  The semi-private course is open to the public with tee times available from early morning through late afternoon.

Travel north along Rt. 1 from Camden, through Lincolnville, and you’ll find a sweet little town called Northport.  Signs will direct you to the Northport Golf Club, a scenic 9-hole course.  Like Goose River, you’ll be amazed at the tranquility within the greens, fairways, and woods.

Each course boasts unique challenges and breathtaking scenery, whether it’s the ragged coast and lighthouses of Penobscot Bay, or the serenity of being surrounded by Maine’s woods. Locals tend to have their favorite course; play them all and join the debate!
