Exhibit of Quilting in Coastal Maine at the Camden Public
Nothing makes you feel cozy on a chilly
winter day quite like a homemade quilt! During the month of February, visit the
Picker Room at the Camden Public Library to view an outstanding collection of
quilts and fabric art produced by the talented members of two local guilds:
Coastal Quilters of Maine and Mt. Battie Modern Quilt Guild. The public will
have an opportunity to meet the quilters at their reception on Saturday,
February 22, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
Coastal Quilters is a
chapter of Maine's statewide Pine Tree Quilt Guild that meets on the second
Saturday of the month at 10:00 am at the Lions Club in Camden, Maine. They are
a group of 35 quilters representing every type of quilter — from traditional to
art. Their programs range from workshops where their members share skills and
experience, to workshops with local, state and nationally known speakers.
The Mt. Battie Modern Quilt Guild is a chapter of the
worldwide Modern Quilt Guild, that seeks to foster a vibrant and inclusive organization built on
encouragement and mutual respect — where all feel welcome. They support the
participation of those interested in the growth and development of modern
quilting, and who value the diversity arising from differences. The Mt. Battie
Modern Quilt Guild meets on the fourth Thursday of each month September through
June at 6:00 pm at the Camden Lion's Club to share new techniques, tips,
projects, and general information.
A portion of the sales of quilts and quilted
art at the show will benefit the Camden Public Library and its programs. For
